When an NPC has suffered heavy losses in combat, or has fallen to half their starting Health, or when you believe it is appropriate, ask the player whose character has the highest Beauty to roll a Morale Check, adding their Beauty to the result on a d20. Each NPC has a Morale score, which determines the target number for this Check. Refer to this chart when determining an NPC's proclivity to either Surrender or Retreat.
| Morale | Cautious | Hesitant | Stubborn | Stout |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beauty d20 Check | 13 | 14 | 16 | 17 |
| Surrender | 2-in-6 | 3-in-6 | 4-in-6 | 5-in-6 |
| Retreat | 4-in-6 | 3-in-6 | 2-in-6 | 1-in-6 |
