Allegiance



All characters must one day decide where they stand with respect to the Psychic War. This choice will affect your in-game relationships with the non-player characters in the game world.



Allegiance Signs

These are more complex systems of Sign language developed by societies involved in the Psychic War. All characters that share the same Allegiance as another character can use Signs to communicate complex concepts without the chance of Miscommunication. See Languages.



Law

Law is the supreme cosmic order that puts everything from the smallest flower to the greatest mountains in its place. When Law works Good in the world, it creates great works of civilization and stability. When Law is corrupted by Evil, it dominates the weak and crushes the powerless under its feet.



Chaos

Chaos is the breath-taking beauty of a cosmos that defies understanding. When Chaos grows in harmony with Good, it creates thriving networks of people who care for each other. When Chaos runs wild with Evil, wicked acts and heinous crimes are done in the dark without any hope for justice.



Balance

Most creatures serve the Balance, whether they know it or not. Many who swear oaths break them - many who proclaim their own personal freedom will swear oaths with their last breaths. Fate never gives Law or Chaos the upper hand in the Psychic War. This mysterious force remains elusive, but philosophers and sophists alike agree that those who serve the Balance serve something beyond Law and Chaos. Many speculate that the Balance is somewhere between Law and Chaos, like a Neutral position, or that the Balance is the reason why Law and Chaos can either be Good or Evil. Nobody knows.
